Click-oriented payment model in Sweden

The swedish internet newspaper “Nyheter 24” came up recently with an innovative payment model for its employees. Next to a fixed minimum salary of about 1500€ the journalists will be receiving bonuses for the number of clicks their articles attract. In that way they would be closely involved in the success of the company- at least that’s what CEO Patrick Sandberg expects. Secondary effects like  loss of quality and credibility for the sake of  attractive content don’t seem to bother him that much, as long as the number of clicks boosts the advertising revenues of “Nyheter 24″. Exemplary for the development was the most clicked article on the site- fotos of Swedish anchorwoman Lulu Carter – naked. The author of the article has obviously deserved the highest bonus payment. Such articles require  namely intensive recherche and finest argumentation skills.
