File-Sharing in Sweden Decreasing

According to an actual study of the Swedish Association of Video Distributors the number of Swedes using Internet for file sharing has decreased by 36 %. The internet traffic in the country has also dropped by 40 %, with most Swedes being scared of harsh sanctions against piracy.

A new anti-file sharing law (in force since 01. 04.2009) as well as the Pirate Bay Verdict are regarded as the main reasons for the file-sharing breakdown in the Scandinavian country. Is this development a permanent change in the internet habits of the population or just a temporary duck after the “Pirate Bay” storm- time will tell.
