International Multimedia Newsroom in Prague

The World Association of Newspapers’ new project will be situated in Prague. Futureroom, the name of the project, will simulate a multimedia newsroom that will be open for international journalists for training.Workshops and seminars will focus on hyperlocal journalism and the implementation of modern technologies. The project is thus aiming at the current current crisis of the newspaper industry by trying to work out a more specialised profile for newspaper journalism. But is the development of a multimedia newsroom – the right way? After all it is not technology that defines professional journalism- it is much more.

The starting conference will be called “Brave new world: media and businesses facing the crisis”. Crisis, crisis, crisis- this term will soon become the most popular in journalism discourse.
